Kate trained at London Studio Centre, gaining a BA (HONS) in Theatre Dance. During her final year, she was a member of Intoto Contemporary Dance Company, where she performed in original works by Jonzi D, Rafael Bonachela, Maria La Ribot, Michael Popper and Vivienne Newport.
After graduating Kate worked on a variety of different dance projects with artists such as; Vivienne Newport for Queen of Spades at the Royal Opera House, Donald Edwards, David Hamilton and Vilmore James for Rough Cut Dance Theatre, Louise Katerega for Foot in Hand Company, ZeZe Kolstad, Isobel Cohen and Helix Dance, Norma Attalah and Christine Cartwright, SideWalk Music, Jane Gibson for La Traviata at the Royal Opera House, Lucy Field and Melody Squire for Sol Dans Company, where she was a founding member.
Kate began teaching and developing her choreography alongside performing and found a keen interest in working with young people. She has gone on to teach and choreograph on groups across the UK and Europe, working within education, communities, vocational and corporate settings. This led to Kate developing and managing a successful outreach programme for Bodywork Company Dance Studios and subsequently led on to her working for DanceEast as Manager for the Centre for Advanced Training. Currently she is teaching at Urdang Academy, runs her own youth dance company, Cambridge Youth Dance Company and delivers teacher training of the contemporary syllabus for the ISTD. She is a passionate advocate of dance being an intrinsic part of young people’s education and believes that dance is a creative tool that goes beyond reaching young people for the profession.
